HUSKIES NAMED SOCCER ALL-STARS

HUSKIES NAMED SOCCER ALL-STARS
Vilela and Alvarado named Men's Soccer East Division All-Stars

George Brown's Filipe Vilela and Jason Alvarado were recognized at Thursday's OCAA Men's Soccer Championship Banquet in Peterborough, Ontario.

Filipe Vilela
Putting together yet another strong offensive performance this year, Filipe Vilela was selected as an East Division First Team All-Star for 2019. The 2018 OCAA Scoring Champion and third-year veteran was a massive presence on the scoreboard again this year, leading the team with 11 goals in six games. The Toronto native finished second in league scoring with an average of 1.83 goals-per-game.

Jason Alvarado
The second-year midfielder was named an East Divison Second Team All-Star in his first season with the program. Alvarado controlled the midfield as a dynamic two-way player all season-long for the Huskies.

Samuels-McLaughlin and Anderson named Women's Soccer East Division All-Stars

George Brown's Brianna Samuels-McLaughlin and Kristina Anderson were recognized at Thursday's OCAA Women's Soccer Championship Banquet in Hamilton, Ontario.

Brianna Samuels-McLaughlin
Samuels-McLaughlin put on another stellar performance this season, earning an All-Star selection for the second year in a row when she was named to the East Division First Team. The sophomore was a major contributor to the offense in 2019, leading the Huskies with a team-high seven goals in nine games.

Kristina Anderson
The rookie from Brampton made her name known this season in the OCAA, being selected as an East Division Second Team All-Star in her first campaign. Anderson was a major impact player who controlled the middle of the field, making a consistent impact on both sides of the ball. The midfielder was just as much a defensive back-stopper as she was a goal-scorer, tallying three goals this season.
