The Huskies Indoor Soccer teams are in search of a spot at the OCAA Provincial Championships with a strong showing at Regionals hosted by Redeemer College between March 2nd to 3rd. The men will play all their matches on Monday, while the women follow up on Tuesday.
The men have been very successful in 2020. They have either finished in first or second in all five Invitationals this season, which included winning three of them. The Huskies are pencilled in Pool A with Conestoga College, Laurier Brantford, St. Lawrence College and Redeemer College. George Brown will play four round-robin matches throughout the day with the top two teams in the group advancing to Provincials.
The men have yet to drop a round-robin match so far this season. They are a balanced team that can win either with their offence or defence. No team has been able to contain fourth-year striker Zuheib Mohamed, who has registered 23 goals in 14 matches in 2020.
The women, on the other hand, have shown promise throughout the season but need to find consistency. They are in Pool B with St. Clair College, Centennial College and Sault College.
In four Invitationals, the Huskies have finished in the top three twice, including winning the Georgian Invitational a couple of weeks ago. Led by goalkeeper Sydney Greenberg, George Brown is very strong defensively, which keeps them within striking distance of opponents. For instance, they have only surrendered more than two goals in just two of their 16 matches this season.
