The women find themselves in an interesting position when it comes to the playoff picture. After Sunday's results, the Huskies (9-7, 5th in East) are currently in fifth place but still have a slim chance in hosting a first round playoff match. For this to happen, George Brown must win both matches this week and Georgian (11-5, 4th in East) has to lose their final two matches. Then it would come down to a tiebreaker.

All of this will be on the line on Wednesday night when the Huskies battle the Grizzlies on the road. The last time the two sides faced off, Georgian got the narrow victory in five-sets at St James Campus. George Brown will attempt to do the same now in Barrie, Ont.

The regular season comes to an end on Grad Night this Friday when the Huskies host the Seneca Sting (4-12, 8th in East). The Huskies will honour graduating players Jessica Barrios, Crystal Nguyen, Alina Karpovnikova and Carolina Parreno.

The men are in the same boat as the women when it comes to playoff seeding. They have a small chance to host a first round playoff match but need a ton of help. The Huskies (8-8, 6th in East) must win both matches and need Fleming and Algonquin to lose all their matches to end the season.

The Cinderella run for George Brown begins on Wednesday against the Georgian Grizzlies (13-3, 2nd in East) on the road. Despite Georgian holding the third-best record in the province, George Brown did win in straight sets the last time around. Second-year outside hitter Vivek Mathimakki has taken a massive step in 2020 where he is averaging over 15 points and 12 kills in his last seven matches.

The team will honour graduating players Andrew Ebreo, Grayson Engelman and Aric Chau in their season finale on Friday night against Seneca (1-15, 9th in East).

The women are hitting their stride at the right time. They won both road games out East over the weekend taking down St. Lawrence and Loyalist to extend their winning streak to five games. What is impressive about George Brown (11-3, 3rd in East) in 2020 is their defensive evolution. Opposing offences have found it very difficult to play against them due to the energy the Huskies bring. They rank second in the province in steals (14.7) and forced turnovers (25.1) per game. What defence comes down to is effort and commitment, and George Brown does it daily.

The Huskies still have a chance to improve their positioning with two games remaining. It starts on Friday night against Seneca (2-11, 8th in East).

The men are coming off a weekend to forget. Their winning streak ended at 15 straight, and they dropped two games in less than 30 hours. Because of that, the Huskies (15-3, 2nd in East) fell out of first place. The good news is they have a chance to regain the top spot this Friday, when they go head-to-head with the new top team in the division, the Seneca Sting (16-2, 1st in East). In the last meeting which took place in late October, George Brown dominated Seneca 101-84 at home. A ton has changed since then. The Sting have won 15 of their last 16 games by an average margin of over 17 points.

Indoor Soccer heads to Ancaster for Sheridan Invitational

Game Info: George Brown vs. Various
Date: Saturday, February 15th
Location: Ancaster, Ont.

The women are coming off a solid performance in the GBC Invitational. The defence was on full display as they recorded a clean sheet in all three round-robin matches. Their run came to an end as they dropped a close 1-0 decision in the semi-finals against UTM. The team showed great progress and will look to continue to build on their chemistry this Saturday.

Early on, the men's season could be defined as dominant. They have won two invitationals so far, one of which was their own a few weeks ago. The Huskies will attempt to keep the good times rolling in the Sheridan Invitational on Saturday. No team has been able to contain fourth-year striker Zuheib Mohamed, who has registered 23 goals in 14 matches.
