FINLEY-HORNE JOINS HUSKIES SOCCER

FINLEY-HORNE JOINS HUSKIES SOCCER

The Huskies women's soccer program is pleased to announce the addition of Nathalie Finley-Horne for the upcoming season.

"George Brown College met many of the requirements that I was looking for. The school offers a variety of programs, with options on duration and start time, the defender said. "In addition, I liked that it's downtown and for myself, close to home. The College also has a soccer team that I was able to join after talking with the coach."

The defender joined the program before the indoor season earlier in the year. She made a massive difference when she stepped on the field. For the past few summers, she has played with the North Toronto Mitros of League 1. Second-year head coach Dave Kelly understands the importance of adding a player with Finley-Horne’s skill level.

"Nathalie is a top-level young women's player, with League1 Ontario experience. In previous years, players of this calibre may not have chosen George Brown; but now we are able to work with players like Nathalie, other players of her calibre will be able to see George Brown as a destination for them - academically but also to help them develop further as a soccer player in a high-quality environment while playing alongside some of the best young players in the GTA,Kelly explained.

The Toronto, Ont., native is enrolled in the Business Marketing program and is excited to continue her journey with the Huskies.

"On the field, I want to have a positive impact and help the team win games. In the classroom, I hope to further my education and learn skills that I can take with me for the future,Finley-Horne stated.

Kelly knows that Finley-Horne brings a top-tier standard both on and off the field that will impact the program positively.

"Nathalie is confident on the ball and a very hard worker. She has the ability to take the game the opponents and allow us to compete with the top schools in the OCAA and hopefully the CCAA in the future, the coach said. "Off the field, Nathalie's standards of being at a top development club like North Toronto will help all of our own and future recruits see and understand the levels of standards that need to be set in order to consistently maintain a high-performance level."

The team was competitive in the East Division in Kelly's first outdoor season. Led by its offence, which finished in the top six in goals, shots, assists, and corner kicks, the team finished sixth with a 4-5-1 record. Their season was highlighted by the program's largest win margin, a 13-0 victory over the Fleming Phoenix on September 15th.
