HUSKIES BADMINTON HEADS TO UTM FOR NATIONALS

HUSKIES BADMINTON HEADS TO UTM FOR NATIONALS

A pair of Huskies in Huyen Le and Anh Hoang will attempt to continue their excellent season in Women's Singles at the 2020 CCAA Badminton National Championships this week at UTM.

Le's first season has been perfect. After being named OCAA Women's Badminton Player of the Year, All-Canadian and East Regional All-Star, Le walked through all competition to capture the gold medal in Women's Singles at Provincials. She won all five round-robin matches before taking down Georgian College's Jessica Maher in the semi-finals to set up an all Husky final against Hoang. Le recorded her first Provincial gold medal with a 2-0 (21-12, 21-11) victory.

Le has won every Women's Singles event she has participated in so far without dropping a set in the process.

Teammate and two-time defending National silver medalist Hoang has been very impressive as well. The defending Provincial champion earned a silver medal this time around after falling to her fellow Husky in the final at Conestoga College.

Other than Le, Hoang has defeated all competitors in Women's Singles to earn a spot at the CCAA National Championships. She will attempt to build off her silver medal performance at last year's event and possibly defeat Le this week.
