LE SHINES AT CENTENNIAL

LE SHINES AT CENTENNIAL

In the third invitational event of the season and first of 2020, newcomer Huyen Le took home a pair of medals at Centennial College over the weekend.

The first-year student was a wrecking ball in Women's Singles. She captured the gold medal in the event after defeating fellow Husky and second-seeded Anh Hoang in straight sets (21-11, 21-14). The final match was the only time Le surrendered double-digit points to an opponent the entire tournament.

Le and Hoang went from opponents to teammates in Women's Doubles. The pair fell in the final to second-seeded Susanna Quach and Chloe Rowe of Humber (21-13, 21-14) to earn the silver medal.

Hoang also participated in Mix Doubles with partner Yang Jin, but the pair lost in the quarter-finals.

In Men's Singles, Areej Shalwani played his best badminton of the season. The third-year student took down numerous opponents before dropping a semi-final decision (21-19, 21-16) to the eventual champion Arpit Tameja of Humber.

George Brown's Ryan Cao and partner Hien Van Tran of Fanshawe came away with the Men's Doubles B flight title defeating Centennial's Milan Singh and Parmveer Singh in straight sets (21-15, 21-15).

Up Next: The Huskies won't be in action until the East Division Regional Championships at Georgian College on Friday, January 31st.
