The George Brown Men's Baseball team had a huge outing on Saturday at Christie Pits against the visiting Fanshawe Falcons, taking both games of the double header.

With commanding 8-2 and 10-4 wins, the Huskies bats who were silenced by Humber earlier in the week came alive. With 11 hits in each game, including home runs by Josh Cipolla and Brandon Nieva, there was no shortage of action at the plate from the home side. Nieva, a 2nd year Construction Engineering student from Vaughn, hit his 2nd home run of the season and drove in 7 RBIs in the two wins.

A few games now settled into the season, head coach AJ Wideman was pleased with the team's performance. "Coming into the weekend against Fanshawe we knew it would be a great test, but was also a fantastic opportunity. We came out and played arguably our best double header to date. We played 14 complete innings and won both games handily. We couldn't be prouder with the continued progress we showed. The players stuck with it for a full day at the ballpark and got rewarded."

Supported again by solid pitching outings from Aiden Colangelo (5 IP, 5 SO, 1 ER) and David DeCassan (7 IP - complete game), the Huskies were in control from the first to last pitch in each game.

Unfortunately for the boys in blue, that control would not carry over to the second day of a back to back on the road against Durham. With two big innings from the home team in the 2nd and 3rd, the Huskies were unable to rally back to recover from the early deficit and were left off the scoresheet in the 12-0 loss to the Lords. "Sunday was a difficult day, said Wideman. Durham came out swinging and we got behind the eight ball quick. Once you get behind the eight ball in this league, it can be a slippery slope. Give credit where its due, Durham was prepared."
