SEASON PREVIEW: MEN’S BASKETBALL

SEASON PREVIEW: MEN’S BASKETBALL

The men's basketball program has been one of the most dominant and consistent teams since 2019. Over the last four seasons, they have earned a CCAA National silver medal, an OCAA Provincial Championship, and two OCAA silver medals. The Huskies are ready to climb the mountain again when the season begins on Friday, October 18th, on the road against the Georgian Grizzlies.

Coach's Thought
Jason Dawkins has led the team to a 54-10 regular season record since being named head coach in 2019. He expects to maintain this high standard in the upcoming season.

"We expect to continue with the tradition of our brand of basketball that we started in 2019 - 2020 season," Dawkins stated.

Returning Players
Naseem Barry, Forward
The 6'8 forward has been a key player for the team over the last few seasons and is in a position to take a massive step this campaign. In his Huskies career, he has averaged 12 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals while shooting 47.8% from the field over 55 games.

Jevon Fray-Woodbine, Guard
In his first season with the Huskies, he came off the bench as a role player, but don't be surprised if the sharpshooter sees more playing time this campaign. He stretches the floor with his shooting ability and is expected to take on a bigger leadership role.

Nas Robert, Forward
The 6'4 forward is entering his third season with the Huskies and has shown flashes of dominance. Last season, he was tasked with providing a spark off the bench through his athleticism, touch around the basket, and defense. Robert is poised for a breakout season.

Recruited Players

Jamarr James

"The recruits we brought in this year, will bring their hard hats and lunch pails to the floor every game," Dawkins said.
