HUSKIES BASEBALL GETS TWO MORE TRANSFERS

HUSKIES BASEBALL GETS TWO MORE TRANSFERS

The George Brown Huskies men’s baseball team is pleased to announce a third round of recruits, this time it's transfers Hayden Wesseling and Braeden Tremblay for the upcoming season.

Hayden Wesseling: 6’4/Pitcher
Program: Business

“I'm excited to see what’s in store for me this year and very happy to be home,” Wesseling explained. “I picked George Brown College because I saw the commitment in me from the coaching staff, and I really liked everything I heard from Josh Appel. I want to help make history for this program and shock everyone with how good we can be.”

The right-handed pitcher spent the last two years with Monroe Community College. Throughout his time there, he was placed in every situation. In 16 appearances, 10 of which were starts, he went 7-3 in 63 innings of work while striking out 52 batters. After his first season with Monroe, he dropped his ERA by almost three runs. Appel believes Wesseling will play a major role for the Huskies this season.

“Hayden is an immediate bolster to our pitching staff. He comes with experience pitching in big games at the US college level, is a student of the game and a true competitor,” Appel explained. “He sets high expectations for himself, competes hard and is the type of teammate that motivates everyone around him to be better. We expect he will help mentor some of our younger pitchers and will undoubtedly be a big contributor to the winning culture we are building at GBC.”

Braeden Tremblay: 6'2/First Baseman
Program: Computer Systems Technology

"When I finally committed, I was extremely excited and proud. Not only do I feel that being a Husky will be a great learning experience for me, but I'm also hoping that my time spent at SUNY Adirondack will help me bring experience to the team. To ultimately, help me be a valuable member of the team," he explained. "When Coach Appel reached out to see if I'd be interested in transferring, we had a great conversation and I really liked the direction that he was taking the Huskies Baseball program in. I'm looking forward to contributing to the success of the team while completing my studies at GBC."

The Orleans, Ont., native transfers to the Huskies after spending the last two seasons with the SUNY Adirondack Timberwolves. In 48 career games with the team, he posted three home runs and 20 RBIs, while recording a .246 batting average. First-year head coach Appel believes Tremblay's abilities with the bat and on the field will be on full display in the OCAA come September.

"Braeden is a big addition to our program. He is a talented ballplayer who comes with US college experience. He also has a team-first attitude and will no doubt be a leader the day he shows up on campus," Appel explained. "We expect Braeden to come in and be an impact player on the field immediately. Beyond that, we expect Braeden's leadership skills will kick in to help us create a winning culture within our clubhouse and make those around him better."

This is the third recruitment announcement from the baseball team. They will open up the 2022 season against the defending OCAA champion St. Clair Saints on the road on September 10th.
