MEN’S BASEBALL ADDS THREE TRANSFERS

MEN’S BASEBALL ADDS THREE TRANSFERS

The George Brown Huskies men's baseball team is pleased to announce the addition of three transfers in Shaw Bowser, Noah MacDonald, Nathan Long for the upcoming season. This is first-year head coach Josh Appel's first class of recruits heading into the 2022 season.

Shaw Bowser – 5'11/Pitcher & Outfielder
Program: Behavioural Science Technician

"I was more than excited knowing this would be a great home for me over the next two years. After meeting with coach Josh, the program's goals for next year matched what I was looking for. It's going be an electric environment to be around, and the team is driven to win an OCAA Championship, and I want to be a part of it," Bowser explained.

The left-handed pitcher spent the last three seasons in the United States competing for the Bay College (2019-2020) and Eric Community College (2020-2022) in Dlll. Earlier in his career, Toronto, Ont., native competed for Team Ontario on a few occasions. Shaw isn't one to back down to any opponent that steps in the batter's box, and Appel can't wait to see him compete in the OCAA.

"Shaw is a very talented left-handed arm. He has a tireless work ethic and is constantly looking for ways to improve as a pitcher. He has a bulldog mentality on the mound and is a great teammate. We have no doubt that Shaw will make a positive impact on our program," Appel explained. "We expect Shaw to come in and take on a significant role on the mound, while also using his work ethic to inspire those around him and push us to be better as a team."

Noah MacDonald: 5'8/Infielder
Program: Personal Support Worker

"I committed to George Brown College because it gave me the opportunity to play the game I love and continue my education," MacDonald said. "I'm super excited to be a part of the growing men's baseball program and help them achieve history."

The Orangeville, Ont., native is transferring after spending a year at Bethesda University, an NAIA program in Anaheim, California. He also played for Team Ontario for a few years before heading to the states last season. Coach Appel thinks MacDonald will be a great fit for the Huskies roster.

"Noah is a player who can come in and make an impact for us immediately. He is a strong defender, versatile and competes well at the plate. We have no doubt that his US experience will contribute to a winning environment within our program," Appel explained. "We expect Noah to come in, bring a lot of energy and demonstrate the type of focus and competitiveness that it takes to be successful day in and day out. He provides with a defensive option all over the field and will make opposing pitchers work."

Nathan Long: 6'0/Pitcher
Program: Construction Techniques

"When I first committed to George Brown College, I was very excited about joining the program. I'm very eager to get the season rolling and to play some good baseball," Long explained. "I think George Brown College will be able to provide amazing opportunities for me in the future. I'm excited to try and give the Huskies baseball team some experience to help win in the coming season."

The right-handed pitcher is transferring from the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) of the WHAC division. He played for the Ontario Yankees and Oshawa Legionnaires on his way up. He's a type of pitcher that does a great job mixing his speeds to keep batters off-balance. That's why Appel is excited to have Long with the Huskies.

"Nathan is a very talented RHP who brings US college experience to GBC. He has a good combination of velocity and off-speed pitches, works hard and is a standout teammate. Nathan does an excellent job taking care of his arm and has mastered his preparation routines. We are very excited that he has chosen GBC," Appel stated. "We expect Nathan to come in and immediately take on a big role within our pitching staff. He will be an excellent mentor to our younger pitchers and his presence on/off the field will help everyone around him be better."
