SEGUIN PROPELLS HUSKIES PAST COUGARS

Thanks to an outstanding performance by Jennifer Seguin, the George Brown Huskies women's soccer team took down the Sault Cougars (0-4) by a score of 4-0 for a valuable victory on Saturday (Oct. 2) afternoon at Esther Shiner Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The first 23 minutes of the match was the Seguin show. In the third minute of the match, the first-year midfielder intercepted a pass, made a nice move to gain inside position on a defender and sniped bottom left just outside the box to open the scoring.

She was at in again in the 20th minute. She gained possession just outside the box and looped it over the goalkeepers to double the Huskies lead. Seguin capped off the hat-trick three minutes later. She outran two Cougars to a through ball and fired it far right corner to push the Huskies lead to 3-0. All three of her goals were shots just outside the box.

The Huskies were not done there. Off a corner kick, the ball bounced to Elisabeth Virelli outside the box, and she sent a beautiful shot over the goalkeeper to make it 4-0 in the 29th minute.

The score remained the same the rest of the way. First-year goalkeeper Mahima Patil made three to pick up her first-career clean sheet.

UP NEXT: The Huskies (2-2) are back in action Tuesday (Oct. 5) when they battle the No. 5 Seneca Sting (4-0) on the road at Esther Shiner Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
