Women’s basketball guard Ava Proskos (1st Year) and men's indoor soccer striker, Yonis Jama (3rd Year) have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week for the period ending January 29, 2023.
Ava Proskos (Women's Basketball)
Pickering, Ontario native Ava Proskos (1st Year), led the women’s basketball team to a 61-49 victory over the Seneca Sting on January 27. The first year Social Service Worker finished with a game high 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field and 3-for-5 from the three-point line. With the win, the Huskies find themselves back in the win column.
Yonis Jama (Men's Indoor Soccer)
Toronto, Ontario native Yonis Jama (3rd Year) scored two goals on January 27 at the GBC Indoor Soccer Invitational. The men’s indoor soccer team went on to win the entire tournament. The tournament serves as a warm-up for Regionals. The third-year Social Service Worker student hopes to lead the men’s indoor soccer program to the 2023 OCAA Indoor Soccer Championships in March. The men’s program brought home OCAA gold during their 2018-19 season.
