HUSKIES MEN'S SOCCER FALL TO SURGE

Huskies #13 heads the ball forward

George Brown Men's Soccer (5-1-1) came up a goal short losing 2-1 to the visiting St. Lawrence Surge (4-2-1) on Saturday night (Oct 1) at Esther Shiner Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED: George Brown went into Saturday's match after a strong performance the night before, and were hoping to carry that momentum into Saturday's contest.

The Huskies wasted no time getting on the board after #13 Mashood Rehman (3rd Year) made a nifty cross field pass to Ethan Hunter (1st Year) in the 9th minute of play getting the Huskies out to an early 1-0 lead. St. Lawrence made it a tied contest after Ezekiel Glasgow scored from an assist by Jacob Ball in the 16th minute.

The 2nd half of the match saw both sides playing a more physical game. The Huskies picked up four yellow cards, and the Surge were given two. And while the Huskies had a total of eight shots along with seven corner kick attempts for the game, they were unable to find the back of the net again. St. Lawrence College's Jacob Ball scored the eventual game winner with an unassisted goal in the 73rd minute of play to secure the win for the visitors.

Despite the loss, Huskies still hold second place in the East Division with a record of 5-1-1 with 16 points, two behind first place Seneca College.

UP NEXT: The Huskies hope to bounce back on Wednesday October 5, 2022 when they travel to Peterborough, Ontario to take on the Fleming College Knights (2-4-1). Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm. Can't make the game in person? Watch us on our Livestream Channel!
