GEORGE BROWN BADMINTON SET TO HOST KIM NG OPEN INVITATIONAL THIS WEEKEND

George Brown badminton will play host to the annual Kim Ng Badminton Invitational this weekend at St. James Campus, featuring players from both the collegiate circuit and public.

The Huskies have strung together three consecutive impressive performances to open the year, paced by Ace Zeng on the men's side and Anh Hoang on the women's.

"We're in a really good place right now, I'm happy with how we've started the season," said head coach Will Schram. "Ace has been really good, the field is tougher this season than it was in his rookie year, and he's done extremely well. Anh is a player who has made a lot of progress for us, she's gone toe to toe with some of the best players in the country and lost by one or two points. She's right where she needs to be."

Mike Ra has joined Zeng in men's doubles play to do some major damage,  while Eric Kern and Alex Chao have been solid performers.

Ng was a legendary coach in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association, a three-time Provincial Coach of the Year. Educating youngsters about the sport, he coached for more than three decades and, in 2014, donated $11,000 to set up an endowment and scholarship fund that will help George Brown students in education as well as developing their badminton skills.
