No. 12 HUSKIES HAND FIRST LOSS TO GRIZZLIES

On Sunday afternoon, the No. 12 George Brown Huskies capped off a perfect week handing the Georgian Grizzlies their first loss of the season with an 89-85 victory at home. George Brown capped off an excellent week winning all three games in just six days.

NOTABLE STATS: Right from the opening tip, the intensity was very similar to a playoff game. The first quarter reflected how even this game was as the two teams were tied up at 21 apiece after the opening 10 minutes. The Grizzlies then displayed why they were undefeated on the season, as they outscored the Huskies 23-16 and held them to shoot 26.1% from the field in the quarter. As a result, Georgian went into the half up 44-37.

The back-and-forth continued in the third quarter, but Grizzlies maintained a slight 68-62 advantage heading into the fourth. That's when Huskies fifth-year guard Teshayn Gayle took over. He dropped 15 of the team's 27 points in the fourth quarter to help the Huskies extend their winning streak to three games.

Gayle finished with a game-high 27 points in the contest. Fourth-year shooting guard Robert Ocampo went 7-of-14 from the field and 6-of-9 from deep for 23 points while adding six rebounds and four steals in the victory. He drilled 14 of his points in the second half.

First-year guard Jacob Masters recorded 13 points, three steals and three rebounds, while Russel Kalyango Jr., chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds in the victory.

George Brown improved their overall to 3-2, while Georgian's record drops to 3-1.

UP NEXT: The Huskies only have one game next week when they host the Algonquin Wolves on Saturday afternoon. Tip off is set for 3 pm.
