MEN’S INDOOR SOCCER GO 3-0 TO WIN REGIONALS, QUALIFY FOR PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Huskies men's indoor soccer showed why they are the reigning Provincial Champions on Thursday at the Seneca Soccer Dome, dominating Regionals with a 3-0 perfect record while outscoring opponents 16-1 to handily win Pool D.

The Huskies set the tone in the opener, controlling play from the outset in an 8-0 win over Lakehead. Michael Whelan headlined the George Brown attack, finding the back of the net five times in the victory. Anthony Lombardi added two, while Omar Hussein rounded out the scoresheet.

George Brown carried that momentum into a 5-1 win over Conestoga. This time Hussein led the way with a pair of goals, while Robert Mijackovic, Babour Zainullah and Whelan scored as well. They closed the day with a comfortable 3-0 win over Confederation.

At Provincials the Huskies will be grouped with five teams, with the top two advance to the OCAA semi-finals. Joining the Huskies thus far will be Conestoga, Fanshawe, Humber, Redeemer, Seneca, St. Clair and UTM with two teams to be determined tomorrow. As mentioned, George Brown won the 2017 Men's Indoor Soccer Championship.

The Provincial Championship will take place March 22-24 at Redeemer College in Ancaster.
