The George Brown Huskies Women's Soccer team debuted the 2023-24 regular season at home against the Centennial Colts on Friday September 8. Despite the back-and-forth battle on the pitch, the game resulted in a 1-1 draw after full-time.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

1st year Midfielder Annia Pavli scored the Huskies' only goal, the equalizer just before halftime in the 43rd minute on a header off an Ashley Altamirano (4th year) free kick in front of the Huskies bench. Colts Midfielder Elizabeth Malone had scored her team's lone goal of the game prior to, an unassisted marker in the 18th minute.

The Colts did not back down after the Huskies tied things up, outshooting George Brown 10-2 in the second half. But 2nd year goaltender and former OCAA 1st Team All Star Victoria Broomer made nine saves on the evening, securing the tie for George Brown.

 


 

The George Brown Huskies Men's Soccer team kicked off the 2023-24 regular season at home against the Centennial Colts on Friday September 8. The Men's looked unstoppable as they made a statement with the 5-1 opener win over the Colts.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Rookie forward Matthias Broomes led the way for the Huskies, netting one goal and three assists on the night. The Huskies defense was standout only allowing two shots on goal, while outshooting Centennial 25-4 and dominating time of possession in the win.

 

NEXT UP: The Huskies stay local as they visit the Seneca Sting on Tuesday September 12th for an afternoon affair at Newnham Campus. The Women kick off at 3pm and the Men at 5:15pm. Can’t make the game in person, watch us live on our Livestream Channel!
