MEN’S VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL PREVIEW

The men's volleyball program heads into the season with new head coach, Sam Schachter, at the helm. The Olympian takes over a team that has posted a 42-30 regular-season record over the past four years while qualifying for the OCAA Championship tournament in two of those four seasons.

Coach’s Quote

“Our team is full of very dynamic and athletic players. We have a group who is growing with confidence every day and we expect to be extremely competitive in the regular season and make an impactful playoff appearance,” Schachter explained. “The strength of our team is a strong character and a growth mindset. All of our players are incredible athletes and have great skill and talent, but their ability to continue to learn, improve, and be resilient is the secret to their continued success.”

Key Returning Players

Sam Delgado
Position: Outside Hitter
Delgado made the team as a walk-on in 2019. He went on to play in 17 matches for the Huskies and was a swiss-army knife for the squad. The Caracas, Venezuela, native was solid in every facet of the game and offered a boost when needed. The outside hitter averaged 1.7 kills and 1.16 digs per set during the 2019-2020 season. He has worked extremely hard both on and off the court and was awarded the Michael 'Pinball' Clemons Athletics & Recreation Award in 2020 for his efforts.

Nathanael Masson
Position: Outside Hitter
Masson joined the Huskies in 2017 as an outside hitter. He has been a perfect depth player that can be placed in any situation and make an impact. His leadership and experience are a welcome addition back to the program after deciding to take the 2020-21 academic year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Titus joined the Huskies roster in the 2018-19 season. The middle blocker, who stands at 6'4, has helped disrupt opposing offences with his height and defensive instincts, while also acting as an offensive weapon off the bench. He has played in 30 career matches while posting 1.4 points and 1.02 kills per set.
