HUSKIES JUST MISS FINALS AT SHERIDAN INVITATIONAL

HUSKIES JUST MISS FINALS AT SHERIDAN INVITATIONAL

The men’s and women’s indoor soccer teams played extremely well but did not advance to the final at the Sheridan Invitational on Wednesday (Feb. 12).

After dropping the opening match 2-1 to the Sheridan Bruins, the men bounced back in their next two matches. Thanks to a late goal from Marsel Ismaili, the Huskies defeated Centennial and followed it up with an impressive 8-0 victory over Laurier Brantford. Unfortunately, they finished third in their pool, bringing their tournament run to an end.

The women played two extremely close matches against future Regional opponents, falling 1-0 to both Sheridan and Centennial, which eliminated them from finals contention. However, they ended the day on a high note with a 4-0 shutout victory over Laurier Brantford.

UP NEXT: The Huskies head to Regionals, aiming to book their spot at the Provincial Championships. The men hit the pitch on Tuesday, February 25th, while the women play on Wednesday, February 26th. Both Regionals will be played at the Ontario Soccer Centre.

Both teams will compete in round-robin play, with the top two teams in each group advancing to Provincials. The third-place teams still have a chance to qualify, but only two of the three third-place teams will earn the final spots.
