Here are the nominees for the 2024-25 Male Athlete of the Year.
Mark Do Coito, Men’s Soccer
Do Coito made a significant impact on the pitch this season, solidifying his reputation as one of the best all-around players in both the OCAA and CCAA. He became the first Huskies since 2018 to claim the titles of East Division Player of the Year, CCAA All-Canadian, and OCAA League Scoring Champion. He also earned East Division First Team All-Star honours for the third consecutive season. Defensively, as the team's center back, Do Coito anchored a unit that grew to one of the best in the league.
The fourth-year defender didn’t slow down for the indoor season. He led the way to help the Huskies earn a silver medal at the Provincial Championships and was named an OCAA Championship All-Star for his incredible play.
Sahil Lokhande, Badminton
The first-year player was truly consistent throughout the season in Men’s Singles. At Provincials, he won six straight matches without allowing an opponent to score more than 10 points in a set. He went to claim the silver medal and was named an OCAA Second Team All-Star. It marked the first medal in the discipline since 2022. Thanks to his play, he qualified for the CCAA Badminton Championships, where he ultimately finished in fourth place.
Yaroslav Svidritskiy, Men’s Volleyball
In his first season with the Huskies, the 6’8 left-side hitter put together the best individual campaign in program history. He became the first player in program history to earn East Division Player of the Year, CCAA All-Canadian, and OCAA League Scoring Champion honours. On top of that, he was named an East Division First Team All-Star. He led the province in total points (334), points per set (5.1), total kills (277), and kills per set (4.20). He also ranked in the top 10 in hitting percentage and total service aces.
