The department will highlight the nominees of the Huskies major awards - Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Female Rookie of the Year, Male Rookie of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, and Male Athlete of the Year - during the week leading up to the 55th Annual George Brown College Athletic Awards on Friday, April 4th at the Glenn Gould Studio.
Here are the nominees for the 2024-25 Male Rookie of the Year.
Sahil Lokhande, Badminton
The first-year player was truly consistent throughout the season in Men’s Singles. At Provincials, he won six straight matches without allowing an opponent to score more than 10 points in a set. He went to claim the silver medal and was named an OCAA Second Team All-Star. It marked the first medal in the discipline since 2022. Thanks to his play, he qualified for the CCAA Badminton Championships, where he was ultimately finished in fourth place.
Daniel Parisotto, Men’s Soccer
Parisotto emerged as one of the best all-around first-years in the OCAA during the outdoor seas, earning a spot on the East Division All-Rookie Team. He was trusted to control the game's pace from the middle of the pitch and thrived in the critical role. He played in every match as in central midfielder position and recorded a goal in the process. He continued his impressive play in the indoor season. He was a critical piece in the team going undefeated at Regional and Provincial round-robin play while earning a silver medal. The program’s best result since 2019.
Ethan Robertson, Men’s Baseball
Robertson made history as the first pure starting pitcher in Huskies history to earn an OCAA award, being named an OCAA Second Team All-Star. The first-year right-handed pitcher was one of the most consistent student-athletes on the mound in the province. In six appearances, five of which were starts, he posted a 2-3 record with a 3.80 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP over 31.1 innings of work. Among OCAA pitchers, he ranked fourth in innings pitched, fourth in complete games, fifth in WHIP, and 10th in ERA. He threw at least six innings in four of his six appearances this season.
