SIX HUSKIES QUALIFY FOR PROVINCIALS

The George Brown Huskies Badminton team has secured representation in three categories at the upcoming Provincials following their impressive performances at the East Regional Championships.

Giselle Kochapanya and Monique Lee, as a Women’s Doubles team, went undefeated with a perfect 4-0 record, not dropping a single set in round-robin play, ultimately finishing first in their pool.

Another unbeaten duo emerged in the Men’s Doubles category, with Henry Chang and Rigel Kent Ayco mirroring the success of the Women’s Doubles team by not losing a set throughout the competition.

In the Mixed Doubles category, the team of Erik Nguyen and Sharon Chung secured a second-place finish in their pool, posting a 2-2 record.

Despite a commendable effort, Sarah Song narrowly missed the opportunity to advance to Provincials, finishing fourth in a seven-person pool with a record of 3-3.

In Men’s Singles, Aaronne Navarro and Jestive Taipan claimed the third spot in their respective pools, allowing them to advance to the cross-over match, although they could not secure a victory.

UP NEXT: The three pairs will head to the OCAA Provincial Championships from February 16-17 at Centennial College.
