HUSKIES DROP CLOSE GAMES TO FALCONS

HUSKIES DROP CLOSE GAMES TO FALCONS

On Saturday afternoon at Aldridge Field, the George Brown Huskies men's baseball teams drop two close road decisions to the Fanshawe Falcons (5-3).

Game 1: George Brown 7, Fanshawe 8

The Falcons got to the Huskies ace in David De Cassan right away by recording three runs in the first inning to jump out to the quick 3-0 lead.

George Brown responded in the fourth inning, though. Aiden Colangelo started things off with an RBI double to left field to score Kyle Bandura. Then, a few batters later, Fanshawe committed a costly error on a ground ball, leading to two runs. Just like that, the teams were tied at three apiece.

George Brown took a 4-3 lead thanks to Bandura's RBI double to left field to score Kevin Kang heading into the bottom of the fifth.

That lead quickly evaporated in the bottom half. The Falcons piled on four runs to regain a three-run advantage at 7-4.

The Huskies fought back to get within one run in the seventh, but Christian Bachoumis struck out to end the possible comeback with a runner on third and two outs.

George Brown's starting pitcher, David De Cassan, allowed six runs on 11 hits and two walks in four innings of work.

Game 2: George Brown 6, Fanshawe 12

Similar to game one, the Huskies got off to a bit of a slow start. After four innings, they trailed the Falcons 5-1.

George Brown clawed their way back into the contest with a big fifth inning. They were able to load the bases with one out. Although Gregory Hall got hit by a pitch, followed by a walk to Bachoumis, the Huskies were only down by two. It quickly became a tied ball game, thanks to a single by Kevin Kang that scored two runs. Two batters later, John Larin gave the team a one-run lead off an RBI single to center field. It was almost a two-run play, but Kang was thrown out at home plate. When it was all said it done, The Huskies were up 6-5 with an inning and a half remaining.

Unfortunately, they were not able to hold on for very long. Fanshawe registered seven runs in the next two innings to put the game out of reach.
