HUSKIES VOLLEYBALL BATTLE HARD AGAINST KNIGHTS

HUSKIES VOLLEYBALL BATTLE HARD AGAINST KNIGHTS

The George Brown women and men's volleyball teams travelled through a snowstorm to Peterborough, Ontario Wednesday evening (Jan 25) to take on the Fleming Knights. The women's team improved to 10-3 on the season winning in three straight sets (25-16, 25-23, 25-11) while the men's team (2-11) lost a hard-fought battle in three sets (25-21, 25-12, 25-23).

HOW IT HAPPENED - WVB: Taylor Grant (1st Year) and Jaque Ronquillo (1st Year) had another great outing as they combined for 19 kills on 40 total attempts while second year setter Nicole Agustin had 19 assists in the win for the Huskies.

Head coach Daphne Choi was proud of the teams resilience "today's game, for numerous reasons showed that we always pull through.  It was quite the adventure just to battle the snow to get there and back safely!" She continued, "logistically the weather created challenges for us even getting the game started. Nevertheless, we were prepared to compete and put a strong game forward.  We took opportunities to score big and build momentum and when we lost points we persevered as a team, as all Huskies contributed on court to the quick win tonight."

HOW IT HAPPENED - MVB: The Huskies were once again short-handed with a depleted roster but David Kiswa (1st Year) had 15 kills on 42 total attempts while Cristian Morales (1st Year) collected 29 assists on the night.

UP NEXT: Both teams will be back in action on Saturday January 28 as they travel to Durham, Ontario to take on the Durham Lords. Action begins at 1 pm with the women's team taking the court first. Can't make it person? Catch all the live action on our Huskies Livestream Channel!
