Men's Basketball player DM Betoukoumessou and Badminton players Sarthak Arora & Monique Lee are this week's Athletes of The Week for the period ending February 19, 2023.
Betoukoumessou has been a pillar, literally, of both the Huskies defence and offence this season. Standing at 6'9", the Early Childhood Education student has been nothing but efficient and consistent in his play all season long. Finishing the season in 1st place in the OCAA in field goal percentage at 71.2%, he did not miss a beat in the Huskies last regular game of the season where the forward went a perfect 7-7 from the floor and collected 10 rebounds for the double-double on route to a 112-63 blowout of the visiting St. Lawrence Surge.
Mixed badminton pair Sarthak Arora and Monique Lee continued to tear through the competition, going undefeated 7-0 at the 2023 OCAA Badminton Provincial Championship on their way to claiming a gold medal. They outscored their opponents by an average of 21-10 per set for the tournament. Arora and Lee also went undefeated in the regional championship qualifier the week before.
The pair now prepare to represent George Brown at the upcoming CCAA National Championships in Truro, Nova Scotia from March 9-11.
