Under the direction of head coach Josh Appel, last season marked the first time in the program's history that the Men's Baseball team finished the season with a win percentage of .500 or better (9-9).
In their 18 regular season games played, the Huskies were an offensive force scoring 127 runs - with six coming from home runs. The team held a combined batting average of .323, good for third overall in the league, an on base percentage of .430 for fourth overall, and a slugging percentage of .437 also putting them in fourth in the OCAA.
The team's season came to an end when the Huskies lost in the quarterfinals of the 2022 OCAA Men's Baseball Championship to the Fanshawe Falcons.
Going into 2023-24, things are looking even brighter. Head Coach Josh Appel (2nd Year) has quickly become known for his reach within the baseball community and his ability to find the diamonds and bring them to the Huskies.
"We couldn't be more excited to welcome this group to the Huskies family," said the bench boss. "They are all talented ballplayers, but more importantly come with high class character which we are confident will contribute to a culture of winning on the field, around campus and in the community."
The group is headlined by three major prospects.
Pitcher, Emilio Cisterna-Germann, is going to become a fixture in the Huskies bullpen. The former Midwestern Ontario Bearcat will be bringing major velocity off the bump at Christie Pits.
Tom Edwards-Gireau will be bringing attitude to the infield on third base as well as the mound. "We want to bring a winning attitude to this team," said the Toronto native. "This is a really solid group of guys. Very excited."
Shortstop, Marcus Herback, comes in very excited and with major aspirations. The Oakville A's product speaks for everyone in the class when saying "Coach Josh has introduced a winning culture to George Brown that is here to stay," Herback continued enthusiastically. "We won't be satisfied until we have a ring."
