The George Brown Huskies men’s baseball team is pleased to announce Jimmy Heaney's commitment to play for the program beginning in September.

"Jimmy is a very experienced catcher who joins us from the highly regarded Ontario Terriers program. He has played against top competition both in Ontario and in the US. He is a leader on the field and plays the game the right way and we are very excited to have him as a part of our program,” head coach Josh Appel explained. “We look forward to Jimmy coming in and making an impact as soon as he joins us. His defensive skills will be a huge asset to our run prevention system and of course we are excited about the contributions he will make for us with the bat. We can't wait to have him join us."

Heaney steps into the crucial position of catcher and will be trusted to orchestrate strong performances behind the plate while contributing offensively. The Georgetown, Ont. native played with the Ontario Terriers the last couple of seasons and can not wait to get started with the Huskies. 

"I loved the school and atmosphere of the community on campus and off campus. There was a big variety on programs that interested me and thought the school would be a good fit for me,” Heaney said. “My first reaction to committing was excitement. I knew that I had found a great fit for myself and would be joining a great program that wins on and off the field. Also just ready to start this next chapter in my life."

He will enroll in the Carpentry and Renovation Technician program. In September, he's ready to take on all the challenges that come.

"I want to achieve a championship on the field and just create a good environment and atmosphere. Off the field I want to be the best I can in the classroom and get to meet new people and get already to start the rest of my life.”

The men's baseball program had another strong season, finishing with an 8-10 record. The team just missed the playoffs by one game.
