MEN’S BASEBALL ADDS THREE RECRUITS

MEN’S BASEBALL ADDS THREE RECRUITS

The George Brown Huskies men’s baseball team has finalized their 2024 recruitment class with the addition of the last three new players in Connor Candolini, Marc Chamberlain, and Connor Gentes.

Connor Candolini: 5’10/Shortstop
Program: Business Administration – Marketing

We are excited to have Connor join us this fall. He comes with great versatility as he has the ability to play various positions in the field, has a high baseball IQ and runs the bases well, head coach Josh Appel said. We will look for Connor to come in and help set the tone of a winning mentality.  He plays the game hard and has exceptional attention to detail which will be invaluable to our program.”

Connor Candolini brings an extensive baseball resume, including 12 years in representative baseball. The Brooklin, Ont., native has spent the last few seasons with the Whitby Junior Canadiens and is eager to take the next step in his career.

“I was very happy. It gives me an opportunity to play for my school and it allows me to play and train all year which was the goal, Candolini said. The goal athletically for me would be to compete every year for a championship as well as being a key piece wherever I am needed. In the classroom I’d like to maintain a good average and get some of the academic money to pay for tuition.”

Marc Chamberlain: 6’0/Infielder
Program: Plumbing Techniques

“Marc is a veteran of the OCAA, and anytime you can bring someone that understands the ins and outs of the league it is a huge advantage, especially with the large crop of new players we have joining us this fall, head coach Josh Appel explained. We will look for Marc to bring his veteran leadership skills to the team, as well as his versatility being able to jump in at a wide variety of positions in the field and be effective."

Marc Chamberlain is transferring from Sault College, where he spent the last two seasons competing in their men's baseball program. Throughout 36 career games, he has posted a .245 batting average, with 23 hits, four doubles, and 12 runs.

I’m excited to be joining a college with a strong varsity program that close to home and had the course I was interested in taking, Chamberlain said. On the field, I hope to contribute to our team’s offence, defence and culture, while in the classroom, I hope to learn the vital skills needed to be successful in the trades.”

Connor Gentes: 5’10/Center Field
Program: Honours Bachelor of Commerce

"Connor brings a great attitude, tireless work ethic and is a great teammate. We're really excited to have him joining us this fall and look forward to him contributing," Appel explained. "Connor has a variety of tools that will help him in the outfield - speed, power, arm strength and also has logged some quality innings this summer. We will look to him to make a big impact on both sides of the field."

Gentes joins the Huskies after several seasons with the Oakville A’s, bringing with him exceptional athleticism and defensive prowess to the outfield. The Georgetown, Ont., native is a versatile athlete, having also played hockey for the Caledon Bombers in the GOJHL last season.

“I decided to come to George Brown because they had the right program for me to continue my education as well as a great baseball team with great coaching, Gentes explained. During my time at George Brown, I plan on finishing my degree while keeping good grades. On the field, I want to perform at my best day in and day out while helping bring a championship to the school.”
