HOLOWACHUK JOINS MEN’S BASEBALL

The George Brown Huskies men’s baseball team strengthened their rotation with the commitment of Chase Holowachuk for the 2024 season.

"Chase is a quality arm from a strong Tecumseh Thunder program. He's a fierce competitor with the ability to pound the zone and change speeds effectively," head coach Josh Appel explained. "He will come in and compete for important innings out of our bullpen this fall. We are excited for his tenacity which will be contagious to those around him."

The right-handed pitcher has spent the last couple of seasons with the Tecumseh Thunder 18U an 16U teams in Windsor, Ont.

“I was very excited to be an official commit and was super happy to be a part of a program in college baseball,” Holowachuk explained. “George Brown seemed like an environment that I would enjoy being a part of as a player, and the team and coaches were all friendly when I came for a visit.”

In addition to his baseball skills, Holowachuk also competes in racquetball at the highest level in the country. He recently earned a silver medal at the Junior Racquetball Canada Nationals in late May. He is set to compete at the World Junior Championships in Guatemala City, Guatemala, from December 6th to 14th.

He will enroll in the Pre-Health program come the fall and is ready to take excel in athletics and academics.

“I hope to improve my skills as a player and as a person on the field while also finding what I want to do in the future by using Pre-Health to open doors for me in the medical field,” Holowachuk said.

The men's baseball program had another strong season, finishing with an 8-10 record. The team just missed the playoffs by one game.
