HUSKIES BASEBALL WELCOMES MARQUEZ

HUSKIES BASEBALL WELCOMES MARQUEZ

The Huskies men's baseball team is thrilled to add Daniel Marquez to its roster for the upcoming season.

“I decided to commit to George Brown College because, after the presentation I attended, I realized that this college is committed to every student and provides opportunities to excel,” Marquez explained. “Some factors I considered were location, campus cultures, programs, and extracurricular opportunities like baseball. I have played baseball for many yearsand I am glad that I can continue playing for the Huskies. Overall, George Brown is the place I felt was the best fit for me.”

The Toronto, Ont., native joins the program from the West Toronto Wildcats. He is mainly known for being a pitcher but also has experience playing at third base. Second-year head coach Josh Appel is excited to see how effective the 6’2 pitcher can be in the OCAA.

“Daniel is a strong two-player who, in particular, I have had the opportunity to watch pitch in big games multiple times over the last few summers. He knows how to pound the zone, change speeds effectively, all while remaining tremendously poised,” head coach Josh Appel explained. “The OCAA season is a battle from start to finish, so it's a huge plus anytime you can bring in a player who is comfortable playing through high-pressure situations, and we are confident that Daniel's confidence will be contagious to those around him."

Marquez will enroll in the Art and Design Foundation and is eager to begin his career with the Huskies.

“I hope to continue building character and showing respect and integrity both on and off the field during my time as a George Brown Husky,” he said. “Academically, it is a fantastic experience to study at a campus where the latest technology is used to help students excel and to create my portfolio to see what kind of career path I want to take.”

The men's baseball program had another strong season, finishing with an 8-10 record. The team just missed the playoffs by one game.
