The George Brown Huskies men’s baseball team is pleased to announce Lukas Richardson’s commitment to play for the program beginning in September.

“Lukas will be a great asset to us as he brings strong defence on the left side of the infield, a pesky bat at the top of the order, and the ability to cause chaos on the bases,” head coach Josh Appel said. “We expect Lukas to come in and compete for opportunities right away. He will fit well into our systems while playing the game hard and will bring a lot of energy to the field each day.”

The shortstop has developed his game through the London West Tincaps organization and plays for the London Juniors 22U.

“I decided to commit to George Brown because I wanted to be a part of the great ball team they have, along with the enjoyment of living in the big city,” Richardson explained. “It was a very exciting but slightly nerve-racking feeling committing to a team and school I didn't know much about, but after I familiarized myself with some people and coaches, it made me feel more excited than anything.”

The London, Ont., native will enroll in the Business Marketing program. Richardson is excited to be a Husky and ready for everything it offers.

“My biggest goal on the field is to become a much better ball player throughout the years and for our team to go all the way and win. In the classroom, my biggest goal is learning new things about how marketing works and how I can apply what I learn in the real world,” Richardson stated.

The men's baseball program had another strong season, finishing with an 8-10 record. The team just missed the playoffs by one game.
