After an impressive first season with the George Brown Huskies women’s basketball program, guard Mariam Konate was named a Second-Team East Division All-Star.

She played extremely well throughout the season and was a key leader. Her athleticism, work ethic and basketball IQ were a perfect fit for the Huskies system this season. She averaged a team-high 13 points while adding 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.3 assists. Konate started all eight games and hit double-digit points in six of the eight contests.

She displayed what could be in store for next season in the last game of the regular season when she registered a career-high 25 points on 9-of-19 shooting while adding five rebounds and a steal.

This marks the fifth straight season a Huskies women’s basketball player earned OCAA All-Star honours.
