HUSKIES DROP FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF GAME

HUSKIES DROP FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF GAME

The Huskies women's basketball season came to an end as they dropped a 76-37 decision to the Durham Lords on the road in the first round of the OCAA playoffs.

NOTABLE STATS: First-year guard Thorin Pangan led the team with 12 points, five rebounds and an assist, while third-year forward Meeko Thomas recorded six points, seven rebounds and three steals in the loss.

When reflecting time on the season, head coach Omari Wiltshire believes the team played extremely well and it's something to build on moving forward.

"Overall, I was happy with the outcome. Going 3-5 with all the starts and stops was not only an accomplishment for the program but also for the ladies who got to play after almost two years," he explained. "It was a great growing experience for me as head coach, especially coming from the lead assistant role. I truly believe with more time we would have a different outcome in the end. I am proud of the ladies' sacrifice and flexibility to the program. They truly persevere through it all. In the end, we were able to complete the season, and I gained a lot of insight on what to do next season. I thank Husky Nation and the people that helped or supported us through it. Also, it was an honour to be able to coach such amazing women."
