HUSKIES FALL IN DOUBLE OT

HUSKIES FALL IN DOUBLE OT

The women's basketball team played their hearts out but dropped a 76-69 decision in double overtime to the Seneca Sting.

HOW IT HAPPENED: This was a classic battle between two GTA rivals, featuring 12 lead changes and no lead greater than eight points throughout the game.

Late in the fourth quarter, after the Sting hit a three-pointer to take a 56-54 lead, Jordyn Dawkins nailed a game-tying shot with just three seconds left, forcing overtime.

The Huskies carried that momentum into the first extra frame, putting together an 8-0 run. However, Seneca rallied to tie the game with seconds remaining, sending it into double overtime.

Foul trouble ultimately doomed the Huskies, with four of their five starters fouling out before the second overtime began. With limited options, they were unable to keep pace with the Sting.

NOTABLE STATS: Dawkins was everywhere, posting a team-high 17 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and three blocks. First-year forward Ketsia Kapanga recorded her first career double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, while also adding a career-high four blocks.

Kayana Granger filled the stats sheet with 10 points, five rebounds, four steals and two blocks in the loss.

UP NEXT: The Huskies (1-5) return to action on Friday, Nov. 22, when they host the Georgian Grizzlies (3-1). Their first matchup was a thriller, with George Brown falling 74-65 in overtime. Tip-off is set for 6pm.
