The George Brown Huskies women’s basketball team is excited to announce the addition of transfer Nicole Taylo ahead of the 2025–26 season.
“I was excited when I made the decision to become a Husky! I took a break from school and basketball, so when I had this opportunity I knew I had to take it because I really wanted to get back on the court,” Taylo said.
Over the last two seasons, the 5'5 guard suited up for both the Loyalist Lancers and the Nipissing Lakers of the OUA. With the Lancers, she appeared in 27 career games, averaging 4.6 points, 1.4 rebounds, and just under a steal per game. Given her previous collegiate experience, second-year head coach Ian Morse knows she’s a great addition.
“Having competed at both the OCAA and OUA levels, Nicole adds a veteran presence to our team and knows what it's like to compete at the post-secondary level. One of our issues last year was overall depth and Nicole can step in and help with that immediately,” Morse explained.
A major factor in her decision to join George Brown was proximity to home.
“I decided to commit to George Brown because I wanted to continue my education and play basketball locally after attending other schools out of town, and George Brown had everything I was looking for. Coach Ian and the rest of the team were very welcoming and it felt like a good fit for me after meeting them,” she stated.
Morse knows her playing style will be a perfect fit for the program.
"Nicole has a high IQ and is an excellent shooter, which coupled with her defensive ability should have an immediate impact on the court for us this year," he explained.
Taylo will be enrolled in the Business Administration – Accounting program. A strong student-athlete, she was previously named an OCAA All-Academic and has her sights set on continuing that success both in the classroom and on the court.
“In basketball I hope to improve my game and help the team compete at the highest level. As someone coming from previous experience in this league, I aim to be a leader both on and off the court to push both myself and my teammates,” Taylo said. “Academically, I aim to excel in my studies and build my network in order to set myself up for success in my future career.”
