HUSKIES CLINCH HOME PLAYOFF MATCH

HUSKIES CLINCH HOME PLAYOFF MATCH

The men's soccer team wrapped up their regular season with a 1-0 victory over the Seneca Sting at home on Saturday (Oct. 12) afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Huskies focused on team defence to frustrate the Sting. Even though Seneca controlled most of the play, they couldn't sustain much pressure.

The Huskies converted on one of their offensive chances. The ball bounced right to Mark Do Coito off a free kick, and he made no mistake, scoring his OCAA league-high 11th goal of the season.

Then, it became the Andrew Shahrivar show. The goalkeeper made a season-high nine saves for the clean sheet. He hasn't allowed a goal in 239 minutes of action this season.

UP NEXT: Thanks to the victory, the Huskies finished fourth in the East Division and earned a home playoff match. They will host the Centennial Colts (4-2-4) at Ontario Soccer Centre on Wednesday (Oct. 16) night. It will mark the second time the two sides have faced off in exactly a week. The last match ended in a 0-0 draw. All the action starts at 7:30pm.

George Brown College Athletics and Recreation would like to thank our graduating students for their commitment to the team over their Huskies careers. Our 2024-25 graduating Men's Soccer student-athlete is:

#10 Gianfranco Gileppo
Since joining the Huskies in 2022, Gileppo has been a perfect fit for the program's culture. After a season coming off the bench, the midfielder became a staple in the starting lineup. He played a major role in leading the team to the program's first undefeated season in 2023 and was named an East Division First-Team All-Star.

In three seasons with the Huskies, Gileppo played in 19 games, starting in 16, and recorded 12 goals and nine assists. He will be graduating from the Construction Engineering Technology program.
