HUSKIES DROP CLOSE CONTEST TO GEORGIAN

The women's basketball team was in a back-and-forth affair with the Georgian Grizzlies but fell 71-66 on Wednesday (Jan. 10) night at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED: After a very tight opening quarter that saw the game tied at 18-18, the Huskies offence exploded. Kayana Granger and Anan Abbatulam combined for 15 of the team's 27 points in the frame to take a 45-37 lead into the locker room.

The second-place team in the East Division responded in the third quarter. They put together a 10-0 run to catapult them to a 58-53 advantage. George Brown got within one but couldn't retake them lead the rest of the game.

NOTABLE STATS
First-year Abatulam led the way, posting a team-high 16 points, seven rebounds and a block. 

First-year forward Jasmine Davis recorded her first career double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds, while third-year Granger registered 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block in the loss.

George Brown's record drops 5-4, while Georgian improves to 8-1. 

UP NEXT: The HUskies are back on the court on Tuesday (Jan. 16) night, when they travel to take on the Durham Lords. Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm.
