HUSKIES COME UP SHORT AGAINST DURHAM

HUSKIES COME UP SHORT AGAINST DURHAM

The women's basketball dropped a tight 74-70 decision to the Durham Lords on the road Tuesday (Jan. 17) night.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Right from the start, George Brown found themselves in a hole. They were down 20-10 in the second and fought there way back to make it a 27-25 at half.

The third quarter was a classic back-and-forth affair. After the Lords jumped out to an eight-point lead, the Huskies responded. First-year guard/forward Jordane Prendergast put up 10 points of the team's 24 in the frame to give them a 49-47 lead with just a quarter left.

In the fourth quarter with the score tied 64-64, the Lords sparked a 6-0 which was all they needed to hold off the Huskies late push.

NOTABLE STATS: Second-year guard Ava Proskos led the way with a team-high 15 points, while Prendergast chipped in with 14 points, two rebounds and two steals off the bench.

Third-year forward Kayana Granger had her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

UP NEXT: The Huskies have 10 days off until they host the undefeated 8-0, Algonquin Wolves on Friday (Jan. 26) night. All the action starts at 6pm.
