Just ask the men's indoor soccer team at George Brown College.
After a not so good start to the indoor schedule at the Conestoga tournament in Kitchener, the Huskies combined some defense and offense to win some silver.
Gold was the intention, but not this time at the Redeemer Invitational tournament after Fanshawe College of London put three balls behind George Brown goalkeeper Milad Kahani to record a 3-0 win in the championship.
Getting to the final, in which the Huskies finished first in their pool, required a couple of victories, a tie and some luck.
Lyndon Vase scored the only goal of the game as George Brown beat Seneca College of Toronto. Then, Marcelo Olivera scored the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Sheridan College of Oakville.
That set up a semifinal against Centennial College, also from Toronto, that ended scoreless after regulation time. Ion the penalty kick shootout, won by George Brown 3-2, Mike Armstrong, Steve Da Silva and Olivera scored goals. - DG
