AMY WILLIAMS TO ATTEND 45TH GEORGE BROWN ATHLETICS BANQUET

Amy Williams is an example of how determination, and lots of hard work, can lead a person to a dream profession.

It's not easy, but not much is these days.

Williams will be among a group of special guests, presenting awards and addressing the audience,

It's the gala year-end get-together to recognize the achievements, the awards and the many success stories of dozens of George Brown athletes, who competed in a variety of varsity sports during the 2013/14 academic year.

Williams is no stranger to George Brown.

And now, working for the Canadian Olympic Committee, Williams was at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

Her job is performing with excellence and while it may not be in athletic competition, Williams gets the gold medal for responsibilities in developing and strengthening the Canadian Olympic team brand in her home country.

"I am passionate about sport from grassroots to high performance so it's an amazing opportunity to be working for the COC," said Williams, who is responsible for sponsor relations.

"My job is to enhance sponsor value by working with them to develop and execute programs that leverage their involvement in the Olympic Movement and support for the Canadian Olympic Team."

And she's had prior experience with Olympic work.

A graduate of the University of Toronto, where she earned her Degree in Physical and Health Education, Williams

In past, Williams worked with many major clients to assist them in driving their businesses and keep their brands thriving in the marketplace.

Her work included managing the development of brand strategies and marketing plans for The Home Depot's national and regional sponsorship properties including the National Football League, NASCAR and a number of Major League Baseball, National Hockey League, National Basketball Association and Major League Soccer teams. - DG
