George Brown's top male and female Athlete of the Year winners, both veterans, are from the sport of basketball.
Vadim Halimov and Aria Charles, were not only dominant on the hardwood, but combined strong leadership skills and academic excellence.

The 25-year old Halimov, who also had his No. 24 basketball jersey retired in recognition of a spectacular career, established 12 major awards –which included College Player of the Year in Canada and three records in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association.
Averaging just over 30 points a game and tops in scoring in Canada all season, the 25-uyear old Business Marketing student wasn't just superior on the basketball court but pulled off the top academic grades on the team. He is the most heralded student athlete in the history of George Brown.
