GEORGE BROWN TO RECOGNIZE VARSITY SPORT M.V.P.

So what is the benchmark for becoming a Most Valuable Player?

Is it about being passionate about a sport, the top scorer, a team leader, willing to help others – or a mixture of them and more.

Evaluating the significant and positive impact of an individual to a Varsity team, often considered a person who is most important to the squad, can be a challenge for a coach, players and even fans.

At George Brown, MVP awards are given to the student athlete who has contributed to the overall success of the team in the areas of leadership, commitment and dedication to the program, improved the play and experience of his/her teammates with a positive attitude and extraordinary skill level.

Eleven varsity teams will have MVPs announced at the 45

"It's one of the most important awards – honouring leadership and not stats," said Ed Mark, George Brown's Manager of Recreation and Athletics. "It's one of my favorite awards. If I was the recipient of an MVP award, it would be something very special and cherish it."

A crowd of close to 300 student athletes, coaches, managers, corporate sponsors, special guests and George Brown senior administrative staff will acknowledge the 2013/2014 Husky MVP's at the gala event.

MVP awards will be given in the varsity sports of badminton, baseball, basketball (men's and women's), cross-country running, indoor soccer (men's and women's), outdoor soccer (men's and women's), volleyball (men's and women's). A Student Therapist of the Year award will also be given out. - DG
