He's the Male Athlete of the Year – but who will it be?

The announcement comes at George Brown's 45th annual Athletic Banquet taking place this year at the Downtown Marriot Eaton Centre Hotel on April 4.

Five athletes, representing five varsity sports, have been nominated for the prestigious award and you can take a glance at the candidates.

ARTISOM BIBA

VADIM HALIMOV

It has been tough keeping track of his awards this year, but Halimov had 12 at last count – which included College Basketball Player of the Year in Canada and three records in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association. A Business Marketing student, born in Uzbekistan, he averaged 30 points a game in scoring this year, chosen league all-star and has one of the top academic averages by a varsity athlete.

JAMIE LENNOX

First official year for baseball in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association and Lennox helped the Huskies make the playoffs. An outfielder and pitcher, the Whitby native batted .311 and led the team in doubles. He was chosen an OCAA all-star. Lennox is in the

EDWIN SHEON

He's been the Most Valuable Player on the men's volleyball team the past three years. An outside hitter, Sheon was captain of a team that went 13-5 and lost in the league playoffs. Studying in the

SEAN SWEENEY

He was George Brown's Male Athlete of the Year last year – and the cross-country runner turned in a splendid season. A student in the Child and Youth Worker Program, Sweeney, in addition to setting records at the George Brown Indoor Classic, is regarded as the top distance runner in the history of the College. At the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association final, he finished No. 10 and was third at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association final. He's also a Canadian all-star.
