The George Brown Huskies women’s volleyball team is thrilled to announce the addition of transfer Alexa Milot ahead of the 2025–2026 season
“The Huskies program has always been quickly evolving, and prior to our first contact with Alexa, we had already set high recruitment goals and saw this year as one that would be highly competitive and with the strongest commitment to GBC's culture in recent years,” head coach Daphne Choi stated. “From the early conversations with Alexa, it was clear to me that our goals aligned - we both wanted to make an impact in the sport and for the school, but more importantly that it was something we'd build together. Her experience at the highest levels of the OCAA, her commitment to team over self, and growth mindset are exactly what we're looking for in the next generation of Husky athletes.”
The 5’10 middle blocker and outside hitter spent the last two seasons with the Seneca Sting, where she racked up several individual accolades. She was named an East Division First Team All-Star this past season after earning East Division Second Team All-Star and East Division All-Rookie Team honours in 2023–2024.
“I was super excited but there was definitely some nerves just because it's new and unknown. Overall though it just made me more eager to get in the gym and start training,” Milot explained. “Truthfully, Daphne is one of the biggest reasons I decided to commit to George Brown. I really like her coaching style and especially how much she truly cares for each and every one of her athletes. Also, the girls on the team were super welcoming and immediately made me feel right at home.”
Milot’s career average is over two points per set and she was a major reason the Seneca Sting posted a 35-1 record over the past two seasons. Choi is excited to have Milot on her side now, instead of game-planning against her.
“Alexa is a beast. In the past when competing against her, I remember advising my athletes to try to keep the ball away from her because if she got the ball, she was likely to score on us. When I told her that, we shared a laugh, but I wasn't joking,” Choi stated. “Alexa has a strong ability to put points up on the board and be a mature and calm leader, raising the bar for her teammates in the process.”
Milot will be enrolled in the Baking and Pastry Arts Foundations program. She already has a clear vision for what she hopes to accomplish as a George Brown.
“I would love to achieve the ability to play new and different positions, as well as make new friendships along the way. Academically, I want to gain new knowledge and experience in my exciting new career path,” she said.
