The Women's Volleyball team shut out the Georgian Grizzlies 3-0 (26-24, 25-17, 25-23) in their home opener on Friday (Oct. 18) night.
"We have been specifically directing our energy into each other. Investing in our teammates, and learning about each other," head coach Daphne Choi explained. "Tonight that investment paid off as the athletes showed they are bought into the process of volleyball, not just the points; they were able to bring heart and grit to the table. We're thrilled with tonight's result."
NOTABLE STATS: Third-year outside hitter Kaarina Niemimaa led the way with a game-high 12 points, including nine kills, two service aces, and a block, while contributing eight digs.
Third-year outside hitter Julia Gordon added 12 points from 10 kills and two service aces, while first-year outside hitter Sherwin Vallejo contributed 12 points from nine kills, three assists, and five digs in her OCAA debut.
