HUSKIES BASKETBALL SPLIT WITH THE COLTS

The George Brown men's basketball team (13-1) extended their win streak to 12 after defeating the Centennial Colts by a final score of 105-86 Wednesday evening (Feb 2). The Huskies women's basketball team (2-8) came up short as they fell to the Colts 62-52. 

HOW IT HAPPENED – MBB:
 It was another night of balanced scoring from the Huskies. George Brown went 39 for 77 from the floor shooting 50.6% from the field and went 67.9% from the free throw line. The bench had another strong outing outscoring the Colts 66-28.  

Leading the way offensively for the Huskies was Robert Ocampo (5th Year) who dropped 19 points, seven rebounds and one steal along with Jeremiah Brown (4th Year) who added 18 points, four rebounds and two steals in just 14 minutes of action. Naseem Barry (2nd Year) and Andre Burrow (3rd Year) also added 12 points each to the final result.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – WBB: The Huskies jumped out to an early 20-17 lead in the first quarter led by Jordyn Dawkins (1st Year) who netted nine points in seven minutes. In the second though, the Colts would lock in defensively holding George Brown to just three points and entered halftime with a 36-23 lead. In the second half the Huskies came out determined to cut into the Colts lead and successfully outscored the home side 17-9 in the third quarter to cut the deficit to just five points (45-40) entering the fourth quarter. In the final frame, the Colts would add 17 points while the Huskies could only score 12 points.  

Dawkins would finish the contest with 11 points and six rebounds along with Kiara Graham (1st Year) who finished with a double-double and team high 15 points and ten rebounds. Minori Fukushi (1st Year) would also add nine points and seven rebound and Ava Proskos (1st Year) finished with seven points.

Head coach Omari Wiltshire prepared his team for a tough game, "we came in ready to compete, but shots just didn't fall consistently." He added, "we are still motivated in keeping each other up and keeping the fight going."
