On Saturday (Jan 21), the George Brown women's basketball team (1-7) lost a hard fought battle to the Durham Lords (9-1) by a score of 75-54. The Huskies men's basketball team (10-1) extended their win streak to nine as they defeated the Durham Lords (9-3) 93-72. With the win, the team now sits atop the OCAA East division with seven games remaining in the regular season.
HOW IT HAPPENED - WBB: The Huskies came out strong in the opening half outscoring the Lords 22-18 in the first quarter, led by the scoring of Kiara Graham (1st Year) who netted seven points in just eight minutes of play. The Huskies would take a slight 34-31 lead into halftime. In the second half, the Lords would prove to be too strong as they outpowered the Huskies holding George Brown to just four points in the fourth quarter. Samuelle Hakh (3rd Year) would finish with 12 points and four rebounds and Jordyn Dawkins (1st Year) would add 11 points and three rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MBB: The George Brown men's basketball team took over first place in the OCAA East division and extended their win streak to nine in a row, after a dominating performance against the Durham Lords who handed the Huskies their only loss (so far) for the season back on November 1.
Led by forward, Jeremiah Brown (4th Year) who finished the night leading all scorers with 23 points, three rebounds, three steals and one assist in just 17 minutes of action, the Huskies were able to avenge their early season loss. As a team, the Huskies outscored the Lords 50-32 in the paint and the bench would out hustle the visitors 48-25.
NEXT UP: The men's basketball team will be in action on Tuesday January 24 at 7 pm inside the Casa Loma Athletic Centre as they host the Fleming Knights (3-8) for George Brown's Bell Let's Talk day. Both teams will be in action on Friday January 27 as they travel to Seneca College to play the Sting. Action begins at 6 pm. Can't make it person?
