The George Brown women's basketball team found the win column again, after an impressive 61-49 team victory on Friday night (Jan 27) at Seneca College. The men's team extended their win streak to 11 with a dominating 79-52 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WBB: Led by the scoring of rookie guard Ava Proskos - who finished with a game high 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the field and 3-for-5 from the three-point line- the Huskies outscored the Sting 41-27 in the first quarter. From there, the Huskies wouldn't look back. Despite the Sting outscoring the Huskies in the second quarter 17-9, George Brown entered halftime with a 50-44 lead. In the second half, the Huskies would add another 11 points to the scoresheet to earn their second win of the season by a score of 61-49. Kiara Graham (1st Year) and Samuelle Hakh (2nd Year) both finished with 11 points each in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MBB: The George Brown men's basketball entered the contest on a ten-game win streak while the Sting were entering the game after winning two in a row. The Huskies pounced on the Sting early in the first quarter outscoring the home side 27-10. In the second quarter, George Brown would add another 26 points taking a comfortable 53-20 lead into halftime. In the second half, despite the home side outscoring the Huskies 32-26, the Huskies would leave with the win to extend their win streak to 11 and improve to 12-1 on the season, goo for the number one spot in the OCAA East division. Leading the way in scoring for the Huskies was Nas Robert (1st Year) who finished with 16 points on 6- for-7 shooting from the field in just ten minutes of action.
