The men's baseball team picked up two huge wins to keep their playoff hopes alive, sweeping the Sault Cougars at home on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 6).
Game 1: George Brown 3, Sault 1
This game was all about George Brown's starter, Ethan Robertson. He continued his impressive season by throwing his second straight complete game, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out seven. Thanks to his stellar performance, the Huskies only needed three runs, with two RBIs from Marcus Herback and one from Patrick Jannetta to secure the win.
Game 2: George Brown 11, Sault 1
Everything went right for the Huskies in the second game Down 1-0 in the bottom of the second, the Huskies rallied for three runs, two of which came off Sault errors, to take a 3-1 lead. The Huskies added eight more runs between the fourth and sixth innings to win the second game. Lukas Richardson and Tylr Romandel each contributed two RBIs.
Finlay Bulter earned his third straight win, going 5.2 innings while allowing just one run on four hits and striking out six.
UP NEXT: The Huskies (6-10) wrap up their season on the road against the Centennial Colts (6-9) on Friday (Oct. 11) night. This game carries major playoff implications. Only two spots remain in the OCAA Championship, with the Huskies, Colts, Seneca Sting, and Fanshawe Falcons all separated by just one win. Games are scheduled for 5pm and 7pm at Ajax Sportsplex.
GRADUATING STUDENTS
George Brown College Athletics and Recreation would like to thank our graduating students for their commitment to the team over their Huskies careers. Our 2024-25 graduating Men's Baseball student-athletes are:
#7 Marc Chamberlain
Chamberlain was recruited from the team as a transfer from Sault College after spending two seasons with them. From day one, he's been a consistent bat in the line up. He has posted a career-high .344 batting average on 11 hits and five RBIs in 12 games. He will be graduating from the Plumbing Techniques.
#18 Noah Case
Case has been a great addition to the team since he was recruited in 2023 as a transfer from Murray State. The first baseman has played in 27 career games for the Huskies, while posting a .301 batting average on 25 hits, two homeruns and 15 RBIs in two seasons. He will be graduating from the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (Hospitality) program.
#2 Peteco Marshall
Marshall has been a consistent force on the field since his arrive in 2023. Across two seasons and 25 games, he has posted a .294 batting on 15 hits and seven RBIs, while also registering 14 runs and four stolen bases. His energy and personality will be missed. He will be graduating from the Business – Marketing program.
#21 Brendan Nolet
Nolet was recruited to the program in 2022 and since then he's been a staple in the outfield. In 47 career games for the Huskies, he's posted a .250 batting average with 31 hit, 32 RBI, 31 runs as well as 16 stolen bases. He will be graduating from the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology program.
#6 Finlay Butler
Since being recruited to the Huskies in 2022, Butler has been one of the most consistent pitchers for the program. Butler has made a total of 16 appearances, including 11 starts and has thrown 63.0 innings while posting a 5.33 ERA and 69 strikeouts. He calm presence has been a huge asset for the Huskies. He will be graduating from the Building Renovation Technology program.
#34 Tyler Romandel
The second baseman joined the men's baseball program in 2021 for two seasons, and after a year away rejoined ahead of this season. He was a tremendous asset for the Huskies on and off the field. Romandel put league on noticed in 2022 when he was named an OCAA Men's baseball 2nd Team All-Star in 2022. In his Huskies career, he has played 35 games while putting up a .351 batting average, one home runs, 26 hits, 16 RBIs. He is on his way to get his gassing license in 2025.
