HUSKIES SPLIT FANSHAWE

The men's baseball team secured one win in a doubleheader against the Fanshawe Falcons on Sunday (Sept. 22) at home.

Game 1: George Brown 7, Fanshawe 10

Down 2-0 in the bottom of the second, the Huskies rallied with four runs, highlighted by Patrick Jannetta's two-run double, giving them a 4-2 lead. George Brown added two more runs over the next two innings, including a solo home run by Noah Case to extend the lead to 6-2.

However, Fanshawe responded with a late surge, scoring four runs in the sixth and three in the seventh to take control.

First-year Daniel Marquez started and pitched 5.2 innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts.

Game 2: George Brown 7, Fanshawe 5

The Huskies bounced back in game two. Down 1-0, Jannetta came through again, driving in two runs with his first career triple. Lukas Richardson followed up with an RBI single, making it 3-1.

Fanshawe closed the gap to 3-2, but the Huskies responded in the sixth inning with two RBIs from Marc Chamberlain and Connor Gentes, extending the lead to 7-2. Despite a late rally attempt, Fanshawe couldn't complete the comeback.

First-year Ethan Robertson earned his first career win, pitching six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, with three walks and two strikeouts.

UP NEXT: The Huskies (3-7) face the Humber Hawks (9-1) on Saturday (Sept. 28) at Christie Pits. Game times are 5pm and 7:15pm.
